Disciplinary Meta-Genres

WRTG 3020: Write4U is a class designed to help transfer students apply their previous experiences navigating academia and writing to their post-transfer academic experience and their discipline as it is practiced at their destination institution of study. Students accomplish this through analytical readings of media from their fields and by engaging with professionals in their discipline at their destination institution. The assignments published here are exercises in overtly multimodal writing – writing that includes media other than a standard block of text – with future students emerging in the writers’ disciplines as the intended audience. This assignment was an opportunity for students in WRTG 3020 to share their experiences and insights related to their discipline with students who would later follow a path parallel to their own.
